  • Cambridge Community Foundation

Established in 1916 with the charter to serve the city of Cambridge, the Cambridge Community Foundation is a 501(c)3 public charity. As the local giving platform for Cambridge, the Cambridge Community Foundation (CCF) supports the city’s shared prosperity, social equity and enduring cultural richness, with roots that go a century deep. We strive to deeply connect sectors across the community, to highlight emerging and critical needs, and catalyze efforts -- through advancing philanthropy, grant making, and civic engagement -- to ensure resources are focused where they can make the greatest difference.

The Friends of CLC are delighted to announce an award of $15,000 from the Cambridge Community Foundation. The grant will support a portion of the salary of a coach for Bridge to College, our highly effective one-year college preparation program.

  • First Literacy

First Literacy provides life-changing educational opportunities for adult learners and educators across Massachusetts.

Adults with low-literacy or limited English proficiency and the teachers who support them are often overlooked by traditional education systems. At First Literacy, we see you. Through our program grants, free professional development workshops, and student scholarships, First Literacy reaches approximately 6000 adult learners and 200 educators in 100 programs across Massachusetts every year.

Funding from First Literacy supports a curriculum project, “We/Us/Ours: Inclusive Language and Practices” to engage ESOL teachers and students in staff development and develop lessons to reflect the reality of gender and family diversity in our communities.
